16 november: Sponsorship in the UK vs. Sweden -Attitudes, Legislation and future trends

Private arts funding has become a heated topic in Sweden, not least because of the government’s new arts policy. The issue of arts funding has gained controversy, and many people are now talking about sponsorship. The debate frequently centres around our lack of traditions and competency in this field. We often look to our European neighbours, or to those we consider to be our role models – the United Kingdom.
At the seminar we will look more closely at the issue of sponsorship in the UK versus Sweden. We will try to highlight our countries’ differing attitudes towards private funding, look at how the legislation works, and then produce a forecast for arts funding over the next 10–20 years.
